Position Information: 

Position Name:  Media Planner

Location:  Dallas, TX

Experience:  2+ years' related experience in advertising or marketing

 

Successful candidate will have: 

1. 2-3 years' related traditional media planning experience in an advertising agency or related experience

2. Experience working with multiple agency disciplines, including brand planning, creative and account service

3. Ability to solve client problems by building and executing a plan which incorporates integrated/innovative thinking

4. Ability to define marketing needs, develop ideas, collect data, establish facts and buy media within specs given

 

Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Media Planner are to support the stewardship of agency branded accounts with the Planning Director handling those accounts and also support for entire Planning Team when time permits.

Qualifications

Education &/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, or 2-3 years’ related experience &/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience; experience working with multiple agency disciplines, including brand planning, creative, account service

 

Software Experience:

Microsoft Office, Mediatools, MediaOcean, Advantage

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Create and maintain media plan workbooks based on the client’s needs; keeping the document

updated

        Assist with pulling research for media plan recommendation, including

o    Telmar Reach

o    Costs within Mediatools Calendars

o    Other research (i.e. Simmons)

o    Competitive

o    Special reports required by the client

o    Build media decks, if needed

         Assist with execution of plan once approved

o    Create specs for TV, Cable and Radio for Planning Director to review before issuing

o    Assist in creating charts/grids to designate stores to media plan

o    Assist in keeping record of nuances and changes to each media plan/campaign

o    If needed, negotiate place OOH/Print and create insertions

         Assist with billing approvals

o    Assist with monthly budgets

        Assist with vendor POVs

        Create client ATB’s for approval and maintain files

 

Client Interaction:

  • Attend weekly client meetings (conference call and occasionally in person)
  • Weekly status meetings
  • Client presentations if needed 

General Duties:

  • Keep Planning Director on branded accounts informed of workflow and any challenges of getting assignments completed
  • Participate in media topics
  • Fosters a positive attitude among fellow agency associates
  • Attend weekly staff meeting, contribute to the communication and sharing with Media Team
  • Manages all projects on time and on budget
  • Completes expense reports no longer than 30 days after expense incurred
  • Adheres to all company policies
  • Assists with other agency projects, as requested
