    Job Summary:

    The Copywriter is responsible for proactively participating in the copy, concepts, proofing, and production supervision for all types of advertising which includes print advertising, television advertising, radio advertising, collateral materials, brochures, point-of-purchase materials, self-promotion items, websites, interactive materials, and all miscellaneous writing assignments that might arise.

    Qualifications

    Education &/or Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in related advertising/communications writing, and/or 2 plus years related experience &/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience
    • Advertising agency experience preferred
    • Great creativity and ability to write in both informal and ‘conversational’ styles as well as formal

     Software Requirements: working knowledge of Adobe Reader/Writer, Microsoft Office

    Responsibilities

    • Work with Creative Director, Art Directors and Agency Broadcast Producers in development of ad campaigns and concepts for print, broadcast, direct mail, and other forms of promotion for agency and clients
    • Write ads which help to build awareness of client product benefits and stimulate sales
    • Strive for ideas that go beyond the expected and tap into cultural trends and beliefs
    • Present creative ideas to clients in an entertaining, “theatrical” manner. This includes live reads of radio spots and television spots to clients either live or via conference call and ability to walk through print ideas in similar informative and engaging manner
    • Copy oversight of creative product from inception through completion to help ensure a high level of quality and integrity of concept through approval of idea
    • Attend television shoots and voice over recording sessions to ensure that lines are delivered correctly and the creative idea remains intact
    • Direct/push talent (through appropriate channels i.e. via director/producer/creative director) to try different motivations and attitudes for characters
    • Works with creative directors/producers/production companies/editors to achieve interesting camera angles, film techniques and editing styles
    • Computer word-processes all advertising copy for copy approval, downloading into storyboards or comps if necessary, and maintain copies of all scripts submitted for approval on the appropriate server
    • Meet with clients to gain understanding and insight into their products and services
    • Research clients’ products/services/image to ensure ability to write accurate, on-target copy/concepts for assigned projects
    • Work to ensure copy/concepts serve the purpose of selling the client’s product/service/image first and foremost, according to the strategic creative plan
    • Assist in writing proposals, marketing plans, creative strategies, publicity, and presentations as requested
    • Familiar with best practices for writing for SEO (key words, meta titles, and descriptions)
    • Performs other job related duties as may be assigned or required
