  • Overview

    Job Summary: Primary responsibilities include media placement for all assigned markets & clients as prescribed by the department head.  Work with other broadcast negotiators and assistant broadcast negotiators & accounting to resolve discrepancies within markets.


    Education &/or Experience:

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, or 4 plus years related experience &/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience


    Software Required: Microsoft Office, Advantage and Mediaocean preferred


    Broadcast Buying

    • Requests avails from stations for upcoming buys
    • Estimate ratings for all buys and negotiate with media representatives
    • Set up new vendors in SBMS properly working with accounting
    • Maintain relationships with media reps in every market for all clients
    • Weekly posting of overnight/LPM markets
    • Maintain PBA (95-105%) & SQAD (below 100%) for all clients-television and cable for LPM markets:  Maintain PBA (90-110%) and SQAD (below 100%) for all clients-television and cable all non-LPM markets
      • Complete overrides as necessary for your markets
      • Request under delivery weight for all buys and track that it runs
      • Give rationale to planner for under delivery or over delivery of markets
    • Re-rate annual radio buys quarterly
    • Complete media buys within media specs as prescribed by planner by due date
    • Post completed buys and quarterly recaps to planner; when necessary have verbal conversations with planner
    • Negotiate requested added value added for all clients
    • Provide media evaluations on broadcast packages
    • Work with media accounting on invoice problems
    • Keep updated rep list for all accounts located on SharePoint
    • Travel to market for station added value meetings, if required


    Growth of Talent/Innovation

    • Train and develop Junior Media Investors and Assistant Media Investors


    Branded Account Lead (varies)

    • Pull weekly UM/NR reports to verify account status
    • Liaison between planning and buying teams
    • Issue buys specs and due dates to the Negotiators
    • Pull quarterly PBA reports
    • Verify and approve billing reports, if needed
    • Meeting attendance, if needed
