  • Overview

    The internship position is an immersive experience in the film marketing industry, where students will have the opportunity to service our motion picture studios accounts and play an integral part in executing promotional and publicity campaigns for their films.


    As an intern for the Sly Fox Dallas office, you will have the opportunity to work with the top movie studio clients. You will also learn first-hand how to work as a publicist for these studio clients. You will be getting real life “portfolio” quality experience that will provide you with lifelong skills, including but not limited to:

    The summer 2018 internship includes a monthly stipend pay and is designed to last from mid-June to late August. It is our goal to find a candidate whose career goals align with this opportunity, and that Sly Fox may help you build your experience portfolio towards a successful career in the marketing field.


    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably with a focus in Advertising, Marketing, or Film
    • Must be available to up to 15 hours per week
    • Must be focused, hardworking, reliable and dedicated
    • Must have a passion for film, communications and social media
    • Excellent phone and email communication skills required


    Position Responsibilities:


    • Responsible for computer skills necessary to succeed in this position.
    • Responsible for working with team to accomplish any and all tasks to be done in the execution of client accounts and agency business.
    • Follow instructions and meet deadlines.
    • Anticipate and recognize concerns, issues, problems and / or obstacles and suggest solutions.
    • Pro-actively provide supervisor with continual feedback.
    • Adhere to all company policies.
    • Participate in marketing ideation and strategy Identify and confirm college promotional partners (radio, TV, print, online)
    • Ensure partners have necessary assets (artwork, passes, promotional items, film website, trailer, opening dates, etc.)
    • Uphold quality of project activation deliverables to client standards
    • See projects through to completion
    • Communicate progress on all tasks with team at all times
    • Be on time according to shift schedules set for term
    • Adhere to client confidentiality parameters
    • Represent clients in professional manner to all third parties
    • Learn agency and client online platforms as needed
    • Learn the clients’ business through meaningful immersion as an educational experience


    • Pitch college press outlets for film publicity opportunities
    • Invite college press to attend screenings as directed by studio for review and feature purposes
    • Submit college publicity report (journalist, outlet, review date, etc.) as directed (or by Predetermined deadline)
    • Format reviews / features and submit to Account Executive by designated time and date
    • Assist team with high profile press events featuring film talent such as PA tours, red carpet events, and screening Q&As
    • Assist team with conducting press drops on local TV and radio outlets


    •  Secure college TV, print, radio and online outlets for film promotion opportunities
    • Secure third party grassroots organizations and field events for promotional activations
    • Secure promotional presence for films on-campus through student organizations
    • Conduct market research on events and promotional partners for database expansion
    • Assist with screening invite efforts
    • Conduct theater checks for screening events
    • Assist in shipping of materials
    • Assist with onsite activities of large scale promotional event activations
    • Assist with mainstream media promotions
    • Assist at screenings and events as opportunities become available
    • Participate in group brainstorm sessions for promotional strategy
